Final Four Odds: It's UConn's title to lose
Huskies have a 2 in 3 chance of winning their second straight National Championship, according to Vegas
The men’s Final Four is set. And just like they have been since the day the brackets came out, the UConn Huskies top oddsmakers’ lists to be the ones cutting down the nets on Monday.
UConn has trailed for a total of 28 seconds total throughout its first four games, averaging a +27.8 point differential against opponents on their run to the tournament’s final stop in Glendale, Ariz. If the Huskies win they would be the first team to win back-to-back championships since Florida in 2006-07.
Vegas’s futures as of Monday imply they’re nearly 70 percent to do just that. Purdue is second with a 33 percent chance to win it all, while Alabama and NC State have about a five percent chance.
Comparing Vegas’s odds with those of respected forecaster Nate Silver suggests there may be value in picking the Boilermakers this weekend. Silver rates UConn’s chances as a 50-50 tossup to win the title, while he sees Purdue not far behind with a 40 percent shot of winning it all.
